Cherry Chocolate Chip: A Must-Try Milkshake Recipe

You may have already gathered, I really enjoy celebrating different holidays!  I think there are so many fun activities that can be done leading up to each holiday (not just Christmas)! And I’m a big fan of adding a little holiday fun to mealtime, and often dessert seems to be the easiest way to do this!

In the spring and summer, my family really enjoys making homemade ice cream (want a great recipe? check this post out!).  And my favorite recipe is Cherry Chocolate Chip!  It is full of chopped up maraschino cherries & mini semi-sweet chocolate chips…. YUM!!!

Sweetheart Milkshake Recipe: A Perfect Valentine Dessert

So, when I started thinking about a Valentine dessert, a cherry chocolate chip milkshake sounded like a winner… and it is!! This milkshake recipe is super simple, only requiring 3 ingredients! If you are a cherry lover (or even just a cherry liker), I think you will really enjoy this milkshake recipe!

Cherry- Chocolate Chip Milkshake

A delicious milkshake recipe, a.k.a the Sweetheart Shake
Total Time5 minutes
Course: Dessert

Equipment

  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3 cup maraschino cherry juice add more as needed
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Place firm ice cream & cherry juice in blender & mix just until mixed well.
  • Add cherries & chocolate chips to blender & pulse several times just until cherries & chips are chopped up.
  • Pour into a glass & add whipped cream, extra cherries, chocolate chips, or sprinkles as desired.
  • Double, triple or quadruple the recipe as needed!

You may want to look for a vanilla ice cream that is a little lower in sugar, because adding the cherry juice instead of the milk (as you would typically) will make your shake extra sweet!  You may choose to use milk instead, but the cherry taste won’t be as strong! And if you really want your shakes to be vivid pink, you may add a drop or two of red food coloring!

Dress it Up!

If you are serving this for a gathering, you may want to serve these fun shakes with any or all of the following:

  • whipped topping
  • extra cherries
  • chocolate chips
  • sprinkles (melt a little candy coating & put around the rims of glasses, then add sprinkles for a decorative cup!)
  • decorative straws

I hope you and your family enjoys this easy Sweetheart milkshake recipe!  If you try it out, let me know in the comments how you like it!
