Healthy Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie

Each year during the hot summer, I crave cold, fruity drinks like Icees or slushy!  The only problem is that most fruity drinks are full of sugar & empty calories!

I do make smoothies at home pretty often (check out my favorite recipes here), but there’s just something about a drink that is fruity & refreshing your hot & thirst!  So, a few years ago, I came up with a little treat, a healthy Strawberry-Watermelon Smoothie!

This all started when I bought a strawberry daiquiri mix and added Sprite to make a strawberry slushy without any alcohol.  They were really yummy, but still had a lot of sugar!

So I ended up trying just frozen strawberries with Sprite. The strawberries being frozen really make a big difference in the consistency of the smoothie, making it more slushy than watery!

Next, I added watermelon to add a little extra juiciness & volume to the drink.   Finally, I tried this Strawberry watermelon smoothie with apple juice to make it a little more nutritious than making it with Sprite!

Of course, you could still use Sprite if you like it fizzy, but you might be surprised how delicious drink is with all of the healthy ingredients!
