Scripture & Encouragement for Times of Uncertainty!

As the numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases increase in the US, so does my anxiety!  It was only 3 days ago I sent an email to my The Sweetest Part community encouraging them to find peace in the Lord during these uncertain times!

And what has changed?  Well, everything seems to be hitting a little closer to home, but in short…. NOTHING has changed!  The God of the universe still sits on the throne (and He will continue to!).  He is in control!  I have no less control today than I did 3 days ago, but as things inch close to us here, my faith does sometimes falter!

Like the lyrics of one of my favorite songs,

“My faith is like shifting sand,

changed by every wave.

My faith is like shifting sand,

so I stand on grace!”

However, I really can face tomorrow with a peace that passes understanding, not because I am sure that my family & I will have no problems.  However, I do know Who holds tomorrow in the palm of His hand!  As Christians, we have to develop a relationship with God that allows us to trust Him!  I may not understand, but I know God loves me & that He is in charge!

What is better than that?  Who would I rather have in charge?  Nobody!

We can lie down and sleep in peace, because we know that the creator of the universe knows how many hairs we have on our heads!

He will give us peace to go thru whatever comes our way today.  And tomorrow, He will be there again…giving us the peace we need! That is our challenge as Christians, to stay plugged into our Heavenly Father, so that we can hold on to Him thru the storms of life!

So, go ahead, stock up on Peanut butter & toilet paper, but remember who gives you your daily bread!

Here are a few verses to focus on to help you find/keep peace when life seems uncertain or scary!

  • Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
  • Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
  • Peace I leave with youmy peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
  • Be careful (or anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:6-7
  • For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

I cannot guarantee that I won’t get a little anxious from time to time, but my hope is in God!  And what’s more, I have a greater hope after this life!  I am so thankful for it!
