Plan Your Birthday Photo Scavenger Hunt for Kids

To plan a birthday photo scavenger hunt for kids, start by creating a list of items or tasks that are related to the party theme or the interests of the birthday child. For example, if your child loves animals, you could include items like “Take a photo with a dog” or “Find a statue of an animal.”

Next, decide on the location for the scavenger hunt. It could take place in your backyard, at a nearby park, or even around your neighborhood. Make sure to choose a location that is safe and appropriate for children.

Before the party, create a list of the items or tasks and print out copies for each team (get my free download here!). Divide the children into teams of 2-3 and give each team a list and a camera or smartphone. Set a time limit for the scavenger hunt (typically 30 minutes up to 1 hour) and explain the rules (check out this detailed post about photo scavenger hunts which includes rules).

To make the scavenger hunt more challenging, you could add bonus items or tasks that are worth extra points. For example, “Take a photo of a stranger wearing a hat” or “Find a yellow flower.” This will encourage the teams to think creatively and work together.

Once the scavenger hunt is over, have everyone gather together and review the photos. Award points for each item or task that was completed, as well as bonus items. You could also give out prizes for the team with the most points or the most creative photos.
